protest letter from Kassel
To the members of the board of IG Metall
no to bans on function Mustafa Efe, Fehmiye Utku and Martin Franke
no to exclusion of other colleagues
Ladies and gentlemen,
I turn to you with an urgent request to you to express the Board sanctions against the committed IG Metall members of the Daimler factory in Berlin and to vote against exclusions, restrictions or functional complaints.
As you know, have IG Metall members from the Daimler factory in Berlin to this year's council elections an application for exclusion proceedings against the IG Metall members of the "alternative-open list" is set. The "alternative - open list" had become one fourth of the votes.
The commission recommended three votes to two with the exclusion of three in the elected council and IG Metall members complaints for 15 other candidates on the list of alternatives. This recommendation was endorsed by the local board of IG Metall Berlin does not. He walked to the exclusions in two-year bans function and maintained the 15 complaints. Basically, he noted, "trade-injurious behavior" due to the establishment of a competing list.
The supporters of "alternative" were shown to explain why they placed in the context of the long-standing conflict within the BR-Panel own list.
A constructive collaboration with colleagues in the council was critical in the years before, not instead. Instead of a substantive discussion, the council leadership reacted to criticism of decisions by exclusion, as they refused to hand over even written resolutions for decisions on the BR-session to the critical council members. The problem was known to the local council.
The workers of the "alternative" called by the local Board for recognition of their list as a second list of IG Metall, as is the case in the BMW plant in Spandau and other works. This was rejected, although the situation is comparable with BMW. In both works there are in essence a polarized substantive difference to the price of the IG Metall. The "alternative" has repeatedly made clear to these differences in a democratic process through the convening of general meetings in the factory. The union is not harmful. If the desire for more participation of the members was taken into account, it would have even the slow decline in membership in the Daimler factory in Berlin to counteract.
In my view, more participation and democratic debate, the only way to resolve the conflict and that will strengthen the IG Metall trade union organization as a whole. It may not be that critical voices are excluded by sanctions from the urgent need for substantive debate. Exactly what would be disqualified, but also with a functional two-year ban on the case!
Mustafa Efe, Fehmiye Utku Franke and Martin are both stewards and delegates. Your contributions are missing from the assembly of delegates. All three were elected from a part of membership in the Mercedes-Benz plant Marienfelde for this function, Mustafa Efe received the Election of delegates even the most votes. Thus, the vote of the members would be violated.
This is even more than the mean duration of the function prohibitions that another candidate in the upcoming election of delegates for these three colleagues would not be possible. In my view, therefore, the decision impaired the democratic will of the members were in the Mercedes-Benz plant in Berlin Marienfelde mean in the elections. This may not be in the interest of the IG Metall.
I am also concerned that in the case Refik Güncan of the list "fair basis" used by the commission again recommended 3-2 against exclusion was. Add to this the opening of a Untersuchungs-/Ausschlussverfahrens against three members of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kassel. I fear that this gives the signal, in our organization a bureaucratic regime prevails in dealing with critical opinions rather than a climate of utmost democratic participation and debate. I urge you
therefore urge you to take a decision against any sanctions imposed by the colleagues at Daimler in Berlin and Kassel. ver.di
In solidarity,
Katja Hoffmann
