170 on solidarity event!
170 participants arrived on Saturday, 29 May at the solidarity meeting with the threatened expulsion of colleagues at Mercedes-Benz in Marie Felde. On the panel were Tom Adler, (Works Council member and co-founder of the alternative Daimler Stuttgart-Untertuerkheim), Hakan Göggöz (BR-member and Alternative Berlin) and Felix Weitenhagen. (BR-member of Siemens derailleur Berlin) and Eckart Spoo (ver.di member and editor of "Ossietzky"). Rolf Becker (Hamburg ver.di Member) was unable to attend due to illness, but his speech was read out by Andy Hesse of solos circle.
As the only metal band to the alternative could Hakan Göggöz comment on the exclusions, because it is itself occurred only recently in the IG Metall. To this decision he came through discussions with colleagues in the alternative, which only convinced him of the necessity of union organizing. Now he is waiting for the investigation proceedings against the alternative for confirmation of its membership. He described the situation in operation: in the last 4 years, 500 jobs have been lost from 3200 to 2700th Now is still of a personal overhang spoken by 500 people. Another colleague reported on the terrible working conditions at the Berlin plant, especially in the assembly. Tom Adler was able to confirm that my fellow colleagues, who were temporarily moved from Stuttgart to Berlin Untertürkheim had also reported to have experienced such harsh working conditions than ever before.
Tom used the example Untertürkheim clear where leads the waiver policy. About 30 years ago 25,000 people were working in the factory UT and they produced 450,000 vehicles per year. Today, only 17,500 employees produce 1.15 million vehicles! The demonstrating the enormous power of concentration that has taken place - with tolerance or even active participation of a majority of works.
Eckart Spoo made it clear: intra-union democracy is an absolute prerequisite for unity and to exert force mobilization. Particularly in times of crisis, the unions should be strengthened.
The event was a first highlight of the solidarity work for the alternative-colleagues. Almost 400 € in donations came together for the solidarity campaign. union activists from a number of Berlin's companies like BMW, BSH, CNH, Siemens, Visteon, Charite, Telecom, S-train, etc. expressed their support for the militant colleagues and stressed the need for opposition labor union against the policy of co-management by council tips.
The Assembly decided the following statement:
than 150 participants on 29 May in Berlin, held events to the exclusion of threats against members of the "alternatives" list works at Daimler explain Marienfelde their full solidarity herewith to this ladies and gentlemen. We affirm both the common will to strengthen the unity of union advocate. Especially in times of crisis we need strong and militant unions. Government and corporations want to shift the burden of the crisis on wage and salary earners, while hundreds of generous billion € of tax money to banks, speculators and corporations to distribute at the expense of the majority of the population. Exclusions active and militant members weaken the unions. The last Labor Day of the IG-Metall and the Berlin Assembly of Delegates has therefore also clearly the demand for repeal of undemocratic incompatible decisions against left-wing organizations and class-struggle forces required. Instead, the board tightened the IG-Metall even incompatible decisions against left-wing organizations and colleagues, the candidate in the council elections on alternative lists are threatened with exclusion. This is for no union to accept. We therefore appeal to all union members with us to work together for the immediate cessation of the investigation against the Members of the Daimler-offices in Berlin, Kassel and Sindelfingen and the repeal of the undemocratic incompatible decisions against left-wing organizations.
Solidarity is our weapon! For strong and militant unions
in crisis!
