Review:
"ballad" is a kind Novel Companion to Maggie stepfather other Feenbuch "Lament". It was in this mainly to Deirdre, James has it replaced as the protagonist. The book is alternately written from his point of view and from Nualas, but in between there is always a little message from Deirdre to James in which she describes her view of things, and especially their feelings.
Protagonist James but I did not like, unfortunately. His sayings are sometimes just totally flat and out of place. He has a very constrained Behavior, and I actually almost did not come before human. I also
is his sudden change of mind but a little suspect. If he is head over heels in love with Deirdre, how can he, after a discharge immediately fall in love head over heels in Nuala?
self Deirdre, from which one gets just described a few lines, I could identify myself as more. I think the reason is simply that I understand their feelings more, could be better because they fit in with what's happening around them.
So I can understand only the less, as James can Nuala are so interested in, because this just sucks. I could well imagine that one of these girls that you meet on the street and you immediately simply unappealing place.
you seemed to be extremely arrogant, although I sometimes had the feeling that they only tried it on its true character to play as a reader.
Apart from the characters I find the atmosphere of the story is very nice, as it seemed to me very harmonious, which also goes well with the theme of music and fairies. The
Feenmotiv itself is the same as in many other novels also: pass, they are also dangerous, do not eat their food otherwise you're trapped forever in their realm; wearing red or something made of iron to defeat it, etc.
Overall I found the beginnings of the story really well, and the showdown at the end was quite nice, but sometimes seemed to me what is happening on a bit absurd. There is much to fit easily together and not in places I had really strong need for clarification. Especially, the resolution of the story I was really not nice, because he has developed what is happening to me a completely wrong direction.
"Lamento" I found there a lot better in the book because I did not feel that it is against the wishes of the reader.
Conclusion:
"ballad" certainly has some really good points and would have the history taken a different direction, they would certainly have become really good. But as it is, the story is a little disappointing and sometimes not easy to understand. I would encourage anyone, with the result of the "Lamento" was satisfied, "Ballade" read no more, as this makes quite a bit broken. But if you want to know more about James should try to calm even think and form his own opinion.
